Father Fakes His Own Death Then Shows Up To His Funeral On A Helicopter So He Could Teach His Kids A Lesson On "How To Appreciate Someone While They're Alive"
Being a father is a thankless job. You spend your days slaving away at work only to come home to a bunch of ungrateful, unappreciative, kids who don't realize how good they've got it. At least that's what my father used to say. Then, instead of getting a minute to yourself to decompress, you have to complete whatever honey do list the Mrs has compiled throughout the day, discipline the ungrateful children for being scumbags to their mother, do the yard work, and if you're lucky get a minute to yourself to shove some food down your gullet. Wake up. Rinse. Repeat. This is not an uncommon way to go through life.
So when your children are adults, you want them to appreciate (or at least recognize) the sacrifices you made for them. There's no easier way to do this than inviting pops out for a pop. If not, he may loose his mind. Enter David Baerten. A Belgian man who felt SO unappreciated by his friends and family that he decided to FAKED HIS OWN DEATH...
The twist? His kids helped him do it...
Source - A Belgian man pulled off the prank of a lifetime when he faked his own death and showed up to his funeral by stepping off a helicopter instead of being carried out of a hearse.
TikToker David Baerten, along with his wife and children, decided to orchestrate the pseudocide to prank loved ones and see who actually cared about the 45-year-old.
The fake funeral, which was held near the city of Liege last weekend, was attended by dozens of friends and family members dressed in black, waiting for the ceremony to begin until they were met with a landing helicopter.
The Video:
Now…it's easy to sit here and shit on David, but part of me gets it. All he wants in life is to spend time with those he loves, and if orchestrating his own death is the only way to do so then so be it.
Having said that…daddy bones sounds like an absolute fucking nightmare to be around. And as bizarre as it sounds I'm cool with the fake death, it's the "putting it on TikTok" that makes me want to puke. I mean imagine have a DAD with a TikTok?!? "Get up kids, it's time to viral!" Gross. That's like having a dad who watches MSNBC. No one wants that. You want your old man to be someone who's unplugged and laid back. Not desperately vying for views on a social media platform made for tweens.
Here's what he had to say..
A small number of funeralgoers were less than pleased with Baerten, which forced the TikToker to explain himself, saying he did it because he didn’t like the treatment his family and friends had been giving him.
“What I see in my family often hurts me, I never get invited to anything. Nobody sees me. We all grew apart. I felt unappreciated,” Baerten said. “That’s why I wanted to give them a life lesson and show them that you shouldn’t wait until someone is dead to meet up with them.”
Say it with me, "des-per-a-tion." I'll let you form your own opinion, but if I'm those kids the next time I'm seeing my father is at his real funeral. Have a lovely day.
